Sound Healing
“The knower of the mystery of sound is the knower of the whole universe” - Hazrat Inayat Khan
"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration" Nikola Tesla
As a trained singer and musician I followed a traditional route studying at music conservatoire but I have never lost sight of what lies beyond the acquisition of certain skills ie the magic and power of sound as a vehicle for healing and transformation. The use of sound as a healing modality is at the heart of everything I do for both myself and my clients - the sound of my voice to guide clients into hypnosis, the use of drums, rattles and my singing voice in shamanic work etc. One to one sessions of pure sound healing - “Sound Journeys” - are another option healing available too in which I use a larger variety of instruments including bells, chimes, Tibetan and crystal bowls and tuning forks.
Once again there is a convergence of science and spirituality which connects ancient healing systems with advanced scientific studies. Studies show that sound can affect brain waves and is effective in reducing stress which is at the root of all problems. The human body/brain is transformed on a molecular level by the frequencies of sound and rhythm. Music is medicine.
I am grateful on my musical odyssey through life to have received some wonderful teaching both from some distinguished traditional voice teachers and many of the pre-eminent sound healers of today. There are too many to mention here but I would like to pay special tribute to the College of Sound Healing (CoSH), with whom I am certified as a Practitioner of Sound Healing, for their extremely thorough training. Grateful thanks to Dr Bradford Keeney ("Sacred Ecstatics" and author of "Shaking Medicine") and his wife Hilary, Stewart Pearce ("Alchemy of Voice”) and the wonderful Cait Brannigan and Caitlin Matthews for "Singing the Soul Back Home".
